About Me
Hi, I’m Sumayya, an MPhil candidate at the University of Peshawar. I grew up speaking Khowar, so I know what it’s like to learn in a language that isn’t your first, and I explain things in plain words, in English or Urdu. I love the moment a hard idea finally clicks, and I’d rather help you understand why a method works than have you memorize steps. Mistakes are welcome in my sessions because they show us where to look next. When I’m not studying, I read books and research papers or go for hiking in the mountains.
Teaching Experience
I have around four years of teaching experience, during which I have taught Mathematics up to Class 10 and Science subjects at Nissa Artisans Tuition Academy. I have worked with students of different abilities and learning styles, and I enjoy finding ways to make difficult concepts easier to understand. My approach is to first understand where a student is struggling and then explain the topic in simple, clear steps, using examples and practice questions. I believe that every student learns differently, so I try to adapt my teaching according to their needs, pace, and personality. I encourage students to ask questions freely and see mistakes as opportunities to learn rather than reasons to lose confidence. Alongside my academic teaching experience, I have volunteered as a life skills trainer with Girl Rising, which helped me develop my communication skills and better understand the importance of creating a supportive learning environment. My aim is to help students build a strong foundation in Mathematics, improve their problem-solving skills, and become confident enough to solve questions independently.
