About Me
I'm Talat Abbas, a Maths teacher with an PhD in Applied Mathematics(Continue) from NUST and almost 10 years of classroom and tutoring experience. I currently teach GCSE/IGCSE and A Level Mathematics at Lahore Grammar School (RWP) and SKANS International School, and I've previously taught at Beaconhouse and ROOTS International. Alongside school teaching, I've privately tutored students preparing for Cambridge O Level, IGCSE, and A Level Maths — both in Pakistan and online for students based in the UK, USA, UAE, Saudi Arabia, China, and Taiwan. I focus on building strong fundamentals, clearing exam-board-specific concepts (Cambridge, Edexcel), and helping students go into their exams confident rather than anxious.
Teaching Experience
I've been teaching O Level, IGCSE, and A Level Mathematics since 2016, covering the full Cambridge and Edexcel syllabi — Pure Maths, Mechanics, Statistics, and Additional Maths. In schools, I've handled lesson planning, remedial classes for struggling students, and progress tracking, which carries over directly into one-on-one tutoring: I prepare topic-wise worksheets and practice sets tailored to each student's weak areas, and I go through past papers and mark schemes in detail so students know exactly what examiners expect. I've tutored students from Pakistan as well as students in the UK, USA, UAE, Saudi Arabia, China, and Taiwan, so I'm comfortable adapting to different curricula timelines and working entirely online with screen-sharing and digital whiteboards. Last year, out of 6 students I taught, 1 achieved an A*, 3 achieved an A, and the remaining 2 achieved a B — every student came out with a B grade or higher. My approach is patient but structured — I push students to understand the "why" behind methods, not just memorize steps, which is what actually holds up under exam pressure.
I've been teaching a variety of subjects for 4 years now, with a focus primarily on English writing and communication skills as well as music theory.
